The Challenge

GB200-class GPU racks push power, cooling, and backend networking far beyond a standard server deployment — the density leaves almost no margin for error. A single cabling mistake or bend-radius violation caught after energization can take an entire rack offline before it ever goes into production. I worked one of Microsoft's first large-scale GPU deployments, where I caught and fixed exactly that kind of failure — a cable bend-radius violation — during live energization.

The pace didn't slow down from there. I went on to become the subject-matter expert for GB200 backend network infrastructure and a recognized SME in the liquid-cooling systems that infrastructure depends on — mentoring other technicians through both as part of the GB200 backend network bootcamp.

  • Led deployment QC across full rack builds — validating every configuration and cable run before cutover, across multi-site hyperscale campuses.
  • Diagnosed and resolved connectivity, VLAN, and hardware issues across Cisco and Ciena platforms during live incident response, with full root-cause documentation on every event.
  • Onboarded and managed roughly 450 external vendors — identity provisioning and access control — coordinated directly with security teams.
  • Authored the SOPs and shift-handoff documentation this environment runs on, plus a new-technician onboarding program built and deployed in under 72 hours — later adopted company-wide by facility leadership.

10+ Years Building Infrastructure That Has to Work

I've spent 10+ years building and operating infrastructure — most recently growing fast inside hyperscale data center campuses, where a single network incident can cascade across thousands of racks and every fix has to be documented well enough for the next shift to pick it up cold with zero context.

I started in live production network operations and moved quickly through Critical Environment and IT Infrastructure roles — promoted to a senior technician position in four months, the fastest promotion at the facility. Along the way I've been a subject-matter expert on next-generation backend network infrastructure and liquid-cooling systems, led deployment QC across full rack builds, run incident triage and root-cause analysis across multi-site campuses, and managed vendor and access-control onboarding at real scale — close to 450 external vendors, coordinated directly with security teams.

I've also designed onboarding workflows and training programs for new technicians, and authored the SOPs and documentation those programs run on. In hyperscale environments, documentation isn't an afterthought — it's the job.   • I run my own multi-node virtualization environment — VMware ESXi hosting more than a dozen Docker-based services, not a single monolithic server.
  • Full UniFi networking with real VLAN segmentation, the same architecture I design for clients — not a flat home network pretending otherwise.
  • Tailscale for secure remote access across every system, and Prometheus + Grafana for real monitoring and alerting — not a "check it when something breaks" approach.
  • A Home Assistant and Homebridge smart-home layer tied into real locks and alarm hardware, on the same segmented network as everything else.
  • A full self-hosted media and automation pipeline running 24/7 — the same class of always-on services a small business depends on.
